The 15th Annual Miami Wine and Food Festival
by Alejo Tenutta
World-renowned chef and restaurateur, Todd English, hosted the 15th Annual Miami Wine and Food Festival, a three-day extravaganza of exquisite wines, foods, and charity. The wondrous celebration raised $900,000 for community-based organizations; Camillus House and United Way of Miami-Dade, making it the leading charity wine and food event in South Florida.
The live and silent auctions attracted the most generosity as together they brought in $600,000 by offering dinner, wine, and travel packages. A few of the items auctioned off included an exclusive dinner for seven lucky wine aficionados at the famed Bern’s Steakhouse, 12 bottles of wine, each rated a perfect 100 points by the world’s foremost wine critic Robert Parker, a taste of Argentina package including round-trip business class air travel for two from Miami to Buenos Aires with five-star hotel stay and winery tours in Mendoza, as well as a dinner package included catering for 10 in a private home by one of South Florida’s top chefs, David Schwadron and served by his professional staff.
Thursday kicked off the event with the Taste & Toast portion at Merrick Park, where over 1,000 attendees enjoyed wines from 65 international wineries and gourmet bites from 30 premier restaurants and caterers. Chef English thrilled over 600 guests on Friday night with an interactive dinner, during which individual tables prepared three-course meals. Bubbles, Bids & Bites Auction and Dinner completed the three-day festivity, as those in attendance bid on incredible auction items ranging from jewelry to travel packages.
