Swanky Eateries Anew to The ‘Bu
by Diana Gdula

It’s hard to resist craving Nobu’s black cod with miso, and come next year, diners at the Malibu Pier won’t have to. The Malibu Times is bringing good news to SoCal’s restaurant scene. The buzz around The ‘Bu is that Wolfgang Puck and Nobu Malibu are opening in time for tourist season in summer 2011. Finally quelling speculation about former PierView and Windsail properties, residents and visitors alike will revel in Nobu Malibu’s move from Malibu Country Mart to the Pier and Wolfgang Puck’s latest landing site.

It is rumored that billionaire Larry Ellison is one step closer toward opening the two restaurants on his property near the Malibu Pier. With the attainment of a few more permits, the rumors will become realities. Malibu residents will dine easy knowing that chain-links will soon turn to restaurant chains, as the property has remained vacant since the business mogul (co-founder and CEO of Oracle Corporation, and the world’s sixth-richest man) purchased the PierView from Chuck Spencer in 2003 and later bought the Windsail structure from Richard Weintraub.

The tides are changing, and so is the dining landscape along the coast. Matsuhisa’s signature dishes will bring an exotic, always irresistible flair to the Malibu Pier, while Puck’s new opening on the beach will be his first Malibu restaurant since the closing of Granita in 2005. Get ready to indulge in divine Asian flavors seaside.
