This weekend was the first look and opening weekend of Epic Sky, the new rooftop bar upon already smash hit Epic. With a South Beachy slash Vegas pool feel, you can sufficiently escape from the stressful chaos of city living. Between the views and cabanas, this is sure to be the new hotspot to grab a cool drink this summer.

With berry-centric drinks the focus of the cocktail menu, all are deliciously fruity, but pack a mean punch. The Sex Panther (Bacardi Dragonberry and Mango Shrub) really stood out as the carnal craving I was looking for, but the Berry Ipanema (Absolut Acai Berry, Veev, Yellow Chartreuse, and Lemon) could easily give it a run for it’s money. Be warned though, the scene is a bit of a cougar hunting ground. But with drinks with names like Sex Panther, is that so surprising? Epic also gives you rosemary popcorn to munch on, while people watching (rompers will always be a don’t), which is literally melt in your mouth delicious.

Epic Lounge originally made itself known in River North in early 2009. Between the dramatic lofty interior of exposed brick, steel and concrete combined with textiles that created intimacy and energy and the to die for food. The roof design is no different, with bright white modern furniture and a neon orange bar- minimalistic chic.

It seemed like a Herculean task to make a dent in the heavily populated River North restaurant/bar/lounge scene these days. But with a name like Epic, they knew failure was not an option.
