We know that everyone has Easter brunches on the brain, but once you’ve sipped down that Sunday Champagne and caviar, it will be time once again to start planning for the week ahead.

This is the Magic City, which means that we are rarely hurting for festive fetes to showcase our designer ensembles. With that said, there are still times when news of a spectacular soiree makes us squeal with delight. Such was the case when we got wind of the Erykah Badu Soul Suite Series.

It’s not just the name of the artist who sent us into the ecstatic zone. There are some special perks for VIP guests, and that means you. While the rest of the crowd may be satisfied with general admission seating, we would never guide you in such a mediocre direction. For this particular show, held at the Waterfront Theatre at the AAA, I must recommend the VIP lounge, where celebrity invitees include some of our favorite local philanthropists like Alonzo and Tracy Mourning, and Heat star Dwayne Wade, along with Flo Rida and his official DJ. Don’t even get me started on the swag bag, because a meet-and-greet with Ms. Badu herself is way more valuable than any free goodies.

The April 8 Miami concert will be one of the firsts since Tuesday’s release of New Amerykah Part Two: Return Of The Ankh. Official word on some of the album highlights is: Her hit single “Jump In The Air (Stay There)” featuring Lil Wayne and Bilal was leaked to her website in February. The viral video “Window Seat” coincided with her album release [on March 30], stirring up nationwide controversy and media frenzy by earning millions of hits in just minutes. Through her renewed passion and anticipation for this fifth studio album, Erykah channeled the ankh, commonly known to mean ‘life.’

Naturally, an album release for any artist means a media blitz, and Badu started hers with something oh so haute: by posing for a sensual Tom Ford fragrance campaign. We’re betting her name will be a headliner throughout 2010.
