Moby Buys Hollywood Estate from Jay Faires and Debbie Matenopoulos
Original outstretched castle construction, more than three acres of Hollywood landscape, and an extending ocean view only begin to provide imagery for this colossal fortress. DJ and singer-songwriter, Moby, formally known as Richard Melville Hall, recently purchased the Hollywood Hills home, Wolf’s Lair, for a whopping $3,925,000.
The eight-bedroom manse features 6,500 square feet of living space including a main house, guesthouse, pool house apartment, and five-and-a-half baths. If that’s not enough, venture outside to the heart-shaped swimming pool for an afternoon dip.
That’s not all this dream home has to offer. What’s a Hollywood home without the view? Not only of the famous downtown area and the sparkling ocean waters, but this residence wouldn’t be where it is without a view of the legendary Hollywood sign.
Built in 1927 by Hollywoodland developer L. Milton Wolf, Wolf’s Lair is still holding strong. The historic abode is calling Moby from across the coast, and according to the LA times, he plans to restore the property while keeping it in line with its original time period design by adjusting details including coffered ceilings, carved and stenciled beams, and linenfold paneling.
Sellers Jay Faires of Lionsgate Entertainment and TV personality Debbie Matenopoulos have enjoyed previous encounters with buyer Moby, and this isn’t the DJ’s first visit to the home. Faires, being the president of music at Lionsgate and founder of Mammoth Records, has worked with Moby in the past, including a recording stint in the estate’s living room.
