Top Five Most Expensive Homes in The World
by Lourdes Reigosa

It is quite interesting to see homes around the globe that push the envelope, both in price and offerings. Here, we give a Top Five list of the most expensive (read: hautest) homes around the world as reported by Born Rich. How appropriate.

First on the list is Mumbai-based estate, titled “Antilla.” Loaded with gizmos and a staff of 600 servants (yes, you read right), the 27-story, 40,000 square foot tower is owned by Mumbai’s petrochemical giant, Reliance Industries (what a shocker—note the sarcasm). It is priced at $1 billion (yes, that’s a “b”) and has six floors of parking space, nine elevators, and myriad storage rooms and lounges. Our opinion: there’s a good chance they are severely short-staffed.

We now travel to Cote D’Azur, France, for the next property on our list. The French Riviera’s estate, Villa Leopolda, sits on 29,000 square feet of interior space and is loaded with 11 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms. The beautiful villa overlooks a well-manicured lawn and pool as well as the best sea views in the south of France. How much does this French paradise cost? $506 million, to be exact. For its original owner being the late Belgian king Leopold and its most notable owners being Bill Gates and Gianni Agnelli, yeah, that sounds about right.

Our next property on the list has us traveling up. Sky high, that is, to the Penthouse in London. Before you go thinking $8,000 isn’t a lot, consider this Penthouse to be worth that amount PER SQUARE FOOT. We’ll do the math for you: the total price for this famous Hyde Park flat is $200 million. That means all of the roughly 24,452 square feet includes panic rooms, bulletproof windows, iris scanners, 24-hour room service, SAS Guards, and even a secret tunnel to the nearby Mandarin Hotel. This definitely falls under the “more bang for your haute buck,” category.

What’s a haute property list without the Hamptons? Our next property resides in the famous residences, specifically Fairfield Pond. It also goes by the alias The Ira Rennert Estate, loaded with a whopping 29 bedrooms, 39 bathrooms, squash and tennis courts, additional outbuildings, and innumerous other amenities. All this brings the total living space to 100,000 square feet. It is Italian in design and is located on 63 acres.

You really couldn’t have thought this list would exclude Beverly Hills, could you? As is anything in Hollywood, it’s who you’re neighbors are that counts. Number five on our list is the Hearst Mansion, a cozy six acres of land sprinkled with six separate residences, three swimming pools, eight fireplaces, a tennis court, a nightclub and 29 bedrooms. It was owned by former US newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst but was then bought by famed lawyer and investor Leonard Ross in 1976. You’d be buying the most expensive property in the U.S. and live next to celebrities like Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes and David and Victoria Beckham. What a life.
