Ten Hautefully Strong Concoctions

Before we start, a question.  At the end of a long workweek, who likes to unwind by kicking back with a few cocktails? Come on now, be honest…okay…do we have our honesty caps on? If so, let’s move on. If not, go back to the top of this paragraph and try again.

For those who are sporting the honesty cap, ponder this. Everyone who is old enough to appreciate a good drink knows how relaxing having one can be. Male, female, young or old, we’ve all experienced what it feels like to have the daily stress of the workweek pile up. Sometimes tension and anxiety levels are running so high by weeks end, the beer/wine we’ve grown to love so much just isn’t strong enough to fulfill the weekend needs.

Now before we continue, another question, or rather a series of questions. When you are looking for something stronger then the usual suspects, what type of liquor do you turn to and why? Is it vodka…whiskey…or maybe it’s gin? No, wait…you’re the crazy “I drink straight tequila” type aren’t you? Whatever your poison, you have to admit (remember your honesty caps everyone), strong liquor on its own isn’t really the most flavorful thing you can drink. Now some of you are undoubtedly thinking, “Dude, I love the taste of tequila,” and if you are, that can only mean one thing. You have tossed your honesty cap into flames of lies and deceit and are now watching it burn before your very eyes.  Way to go reader…Way to go.

For us honest folk, it is easy to own up to the fact that 80 proof liquor tastes a lot better when it’s mixed with…well, with anything. From whiskey to tequila, you have to admit, alcohol is better when it’s blended. On that note, Haute Living Magazine is proud to present to you (remaining honest and loyal readers) ten very strongest drinks that taste fantastic.  So when a beer just won’t cut it, we suggest you try one of these. Enjoy!

10.) Madras

  • 2 oz Vodka
  • Cranberry Juice
  • Orange Juice
  • Lime

Some even like to make a Madras a little more intoxicating by adding 1 oz of peach flavored vodka. Seem strong? Well, with potentially three shots in one drink, it is.

9.) Mojito

  • 2 oz Rum
  • 12 Mint Leaves
  • 2 tblsp Sugar
  • Lime Juice
  • Soda

Feel free to add a wide combination of favors to Mojito’s.  Anyway you mix it, these drinks taste fantastic and have a serious kick.

8.) Daiquiri

  • 2 oz light rum
  • 1 oz coconut rum
  • Strawberries
  • Lime
  • Simple Syrup

This strong, yet delightful, concoction is made with a plethora of flavors, most commonly strawberry.
