Rocking Reception at the MoMA

Art Lovers united at the MoMA on the evening of March 3, in celebration of the 2010 Armory Show. The annual Armory Show, which after 11 years, has become a powerful consortium, is a fair dedicated to significant artwork of the 20th and 21st centuries. Every March, Armory week makes New York an essential destination for art addicts. As a cultural partner of the show, the MoMA has been hosting its acclaimed opening reception parties since 2001.

The Museum’s Agnes Gund Garden lobby was vibrating with discussion, dancing and music from Indie rock bands Human Rights and The Walkmen. The latter’s performance included their latest hit, In The New Year, which shook up the scintillating crowd.

In a recent press statement, MoMA director Glenn Lowry expressed his gratitude for what the Armory Show does for New York City: “These events not only bring together thousands of people and hundreds of galleries, they really are opportunities to think about art – and especially contemporary art – in the largest context possible. It’s absolutely remarkable.”

The Armory Show is located on Piers 92 and 94, and runs until March 7, 2010.
