ZUMA To Bring London Cool and Japanese Fare to Miami
by Nicola Payne
All you sushi fans out there, it’s time to get excited. Why you ask? Because the upscale London-based Japanese restaurant, Zuma, is coming to the Biscayne Bay area in May, taking over the ground floor of the luxurious Epic Hotel and bringing with it a “sophisticated twist on the traditional Japanese Izakaya style of informal eating and drinking.”
Miami joins a cosmopolitan list of cities that play host to the chic sake bar and lounge, including Hong Kong, Istanbul, and Dubai. German-born chef and cofounder Rainer Becker extols on the perks of the Miami location the only one in the US–saying: “The bay views from the restaurant terrace and the river that runs alongside it makes it a perfect location.”
Zuma has something for everyone, whether it be the cocktails that blend fresh fruit with sake and Japanese spirits, the delicious unagi bo zushi roll of grilled freshwater eel, avocado, sweet omelette and gobo, or the delicious green tea and banana cake dessert that comes with coconut ice cream and peanut toffee sauce. Since May is still a few months from now, why not take a trip to London in the meantime and try out the restaurant in its posh Knightsbridge location? Even further incentive, if you need it, Harrods is only a short walk away.
Recently heralded as one of the Top 10 Hottest New Restaurants and Top 50 Hot Spot Restaurants in the United States by OpenTable, Zuma Miami has been established as an ultimate Miami dining destination.
