Dim Sum Dining: The Haute 5 Chinese Restaurants in Las Vegas
When it comes to eating out, Chinese Food is high on people’s lists. Since many don’t usually think of fine dining when they think ‘Chinese,’ here are this week’s Haute 5 picks for Chinese fine dining restaurants that will surely change the way you think about Chinese food.
Wing Lei
Meaning “forever prosperous,” Wing Lei inside the Wynn Las Vegas is one of the most luxurious Chinese restaurants on the strip and the only Chinese restaurant in North America to receive one star from the Michelin Guide in 2008. Wing Lei offers you refined Chinese cuisine in an elegant and stylish setting inspired by early French-influenced Shanghi. Walking in, you are greeted by a white onyx bar and numerous ancient Chinese motifs such as the dragon and flaming pearl. The restaurant’s most timeless accessories are the 100-year-old pomegranate trees that are planted directly outside the enormous picture window comprising one entire wall of the dining room. But it’s really all about the food. The tasting menu is a true delight with five courses. The Peking duck dinner includes a table-side carving of roasted duck wrapped with Mandarin pancakes, cucumber, scallion, and hoi sin sauce. The Peking duck salad with almonds and crisp orange truffle vinaigrette, wild duck soup, and Asian vegetables is also a favorite, or try the wok-fried duck in black bean sauce, pan-seared duck noodles with Chinese broccoli, crispy noodles, and a chocolate dome for dessert. And that’s just the tasting menu! There are many more delectable delights to choose from.
Wing Lei is located inside the Wynn Las Vegas, 3131 Las Vegas Blvd. S., Las Vegas, (702) 770-3388.
