Paolo Zampolli’s Lavish New Spread
by Alejo Tenutta

Surely, our readers are interested to know what prominent names are purchasing what luxurious properties, and today, Haute Living has quite the big news.  Paolo Zampolli (who is featured in Haute Living’s New York City Guide) has just purchased an elegant town home at 119 E. 17th St., on the corner of Irving Place.  The chic pad cost the former modeling agency mogul turned environmentalist/entrepreneur reportedly $4.71 million and will be providing him with the family home he has been hunting down.  With a child on the way, Paolo and his wife Amanda are hoping to establish themselves in this lavish five story, 8,400-square-foot home.  His lovely wife will be giving birth to a boy, whom they plan to name Giovanni after Paolo’s grandfather.

Mr. Zampolli has hired a new face in upscale architecture, Andre Kikoski, who will be in charge of creating two more floors and expanding the home’s square footage to an impressive 12,000 square feet.  The reasons for alterations come from the need for more space, according to the power couple; the extra space will provide larger living area as well as accommodate guests and Paolo’s own mother.

When Haute Living last caught up with Mr. Zampolli, he discussed his exit from the modeling world and entrance into the “real” of real estate.  It seems that he is fitting quite well into his new role and will not be holding back on making his personal home one to applaud.  According to Paolo himself, the home will take approximately one year for completion and Haute Living will be there to witness its magnificence.

Former Madoff Exec Faces Criminal Charges

We all remember Bernard Madoff and his infamous Ponzi scheme, or at least we all should.  If you don’t, there is really only one thing to say. Crawl out from under the rock from which you’ve been living and pick-up a newspaper every once and while.

Now for those of us who are familiar with Madoff, you might be interested in this next little piece of information. Madoff’s former operations director, Daniel Bonventure, 63, was recently arrested at his Manhattan home, and he is expected to appear in federal court later on today.

Prosecutors involved with the case said Bonventure had full knowledge about the hundreds of million of dollars that was siphoned out of accounts belonging to Madoff’s former clients.

Bonventure is being accused of, among other things, failing to report hundreds of thousands of dollars in income to the IRS.

Madoff, 71, is serving 150-year prison sentence after admitting that he orchestrated 20 year Ponzi scheme that cheated thousands of people, charities, institutional investors, and celebrities out of billions.

No one really knows the full extent of Bonventures’ involvement, but initial speculation leads many to believe that the former Operations Executive could very well be sharing Madoff’s incarcerated fate.

Tiger’s Redemptive Construction

Tiger Woods has gotten a lot of bad press lately, and some feel deservedly so. Now whether you love him as a Golfer or hate him as a man, everyone once and a while ‘good ole’ Tiger does some things that make us proud of him, or at least some things that makes his mother proud.

Now growing up, we were all taught to love and respect our mothers, or at least I hope we were. Now Tiger, despite his recent, and very public personal troubles, is doing something for his mother that should make many of us step back and say, “Hey, this guy isn’t such a sleazebag after all.”

So what is he doing that deserves a little positive recognition? Well, Tiger Woods has been building a magnificent $2.6 million mansion for his mother, Tida, in Unincorporated Palm Beach, just North of Jupiter.

Some time ago, Tiger bought two adjacent properties, directly across the Intracoastal, for the hefty sum of $2.4 million.  If you add up the property cost with the construction cost, Tiger has dished out more than $5 million for dear old mom.

Like Tiger or not, you have to give it to him here.  Even the most affluent among us cringe at the idea of spending $5 million on a mansion for our mothers.  So what do you think? Does Tiger deserve to be applauded for this apparently thoughtless act, or do you think he is rich enough already, so what difference does $5 million really make to him?  Let us know by leaving your comments below.

A Fashionable Feast for Dior
by Ebony Montenegro

For the power players of San Francisco’s high society, lunch isn’t simply a daily event wedged between long hours of work, and particularly not on Feb. 12, 2010, for it was on this festive Friday that Dior returned to the West Coast for its first fashion luncheon in several years.

The luxury label came bearing gifts to celebrate its Summer 2010 collection, at an exclusive luncheon hosted by Pamela Joyner.

The fashion-forward hostess welcomed 50 of San Francisco’s finest to her lovely home, including Dior President Pamela Baxter and Executive Vice President Karen Watkins. Guests arrived decked out in apparel from the latest collection, the perfect choice for dining on lobster medallions and pear galettes.

A feast for the palate and the eyes, models gracefully paraded around the dining room in Dior’s exquisite gowns. As a special bonus, Dior brought along its signature “Bar” jacket, direct from the Parisian archives, to display for all of the fashionistas.

As one of the most iconic brands in the world, Dior has been a pioneer in establishing timeless trends. This season was no exception, and while John Galliano led the brand to more exquisite creations, the timeless allure continues this season taking on a forties femme fatal vibe.

Customize Your Louis Vuitton

What’s better than a Louis Vuitton monogram bag? A Louis Vuitton bag with YOUR own monogram on it. That’s the thinking behind the house’s Mon Monogram online service, which will allow you to customize your LV bag of choice including the Speedy, Keepall travel bag, or the Pegase 55 wheeled cabin case. You can then pick up to three initials and vertical or diagonal stripes available in 17 color options. Once you have entered your selection the site will simulate the design for you to see what the finished product will look like.

Though Louis Vuitton has previously allowed customers to personalize luggage and smaller items, it was only accessible in a few of its flagship stores worldwide. This new online initiative is exciting in that it can now cater to a global clientele.

Louis Vuitton Senior Vice-President Pietro Beccari stated, “We are delighted to announce the launch of Mon Monogram on www.louisvuitton.com. For more than 150 years, this company has united tradition and innovation, and there is no better example than this initiative, which brings one of Louis Vuitton’s historic services—personalization—into the digital era.”

$7.5 Million Ross Estate Offered by Marilyn Rich
by HauteLiving

Owned by one of the country’s leading and most recognized product designers, this home is the epitome of architectural creativity. The search for the land to build this “dream house” took more than ten years. Finally, the sellers found this 3.6 acres site atop a knoll, at the crest of a ridge, with the property reaching down the Marin Art and Garden Center. The full-circle view encompassed the valley below and Mount Tamalpais afar: a field of wild grass and a grove of fine oak trees covered the ground. With views focusing on Mount Tamalpais, and with the intent being to design a home of simplicity that would take advantage of the magnificent site, the project took approximately three years to complete. The mandated interplay of open space, sunshine, and sight lines is magnified by the plentiful use of full-height glass walls and clerestory windows. White prevails inside, offset by Brazilian Cherry or Southern Jatoba wood. Lighting, designed by Jim Benya of Luminae Souter, consists of up-and down-lights, wall washers inside and out, and a Lutron Graphic Eye control system that produces pre-set light scenes via touch of a button, built-in vacuuming, intercom, door speakers, heating and stereo systems. Solar panels heat the swimming pool which is located directly off the kitchen and family room.

Offered @ $8,500,000
