Oh, the remarkable wonders of Twitter and its daily feeds. Thanks to the social networking site, the Getty Museum reminded fellow twitter lovers of the Getty Villa’s 36th Anniversary of being open to the public. J. Paul Getty opened the Getty Villa in 1974 as a second museum and educational center dedicated to the study of the arts and cultures of ancient Greece, Rome and EtruriaThe museum is a re-creation of the Villa of the Papyri at Herculaneum. It was closed in 1997 for extensive renovations and re-opened in 2006. Throughout the celebration, Twitter has recapped the villa’s history and grandiose marvels. Admission to the Getty Villa is free, but you must reserve a ticket in advance.
