Ain’t Nothin’ But a Hound Dog… So Said Leiber and Stoller
Do the names Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller mean anything to you? Well if you’ve ever liked rock and roll, you should pretty much put them to memory. Calling them legendary is almost to underestimate their contribution to rock and roll music. The songwriters responsible for Elvis Presley’s “Hound Dog,” The Coaster’s “Charlie Brown,” and Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me,” you have sung their lyrics without knowing it for ages.
Now you can get a chance to thank them in person. At Frank Pictures Gallery at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica on Tuesday, February 2 from 6:30pm, the gentlemen behind so many of our favorite songs will be signing copies of their new book Hound Dog, in which they share details of their personal and professional lives. Think of it as a tell-all of how rock and roll really came to be. You’ll read about their social and professional interactions with Tennessee Williams, Chet Baker, and James Dean as well as stories chronicling how their genius blossomed.
These Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-rs can tell you a story or two, of that we can be sure. You don’t get “genius” tacked on to your name being bland, do you?
To RSVP to the book signing, send an email to laurie@frankpicturesgallery.com. The gallery is located at 2525 Michigan Avenue in Santa Monica. (310) 828-0211
