Top Chef Michael Voltaggio Stays at Langham Huntington
by Alison Agudo
Some people have been wondering what would happen to Top Chef contestant Michael Voltaggio, chef de cuisine at the Langham Huntington in Pasadena, now that’s he’s been crowned the winner of Top Chef; and the simplest answer is, for the time being, nothing.
As tradition goes, winners of the extremely popular cooking show Top Chef typically take their prize money and open their own restaurant, so there was some speculation that contestant Michael Voltaggio could simply not be the winner when he was announced as the chef de cuisine at the Langham Huntington in Pasadena. As it turns out, however, those assumptions were incorrect, and despite his position at the Langham, Voltaggio went on to win the show. This, naturally, led to people wondering how much longer he’d remain at the hotel before packing up his knifes and opening his own restaurant.
Well, rest easy Langham and Voltaggio fans; the Top Chef isn’t going anywhere, according to representatives at the Langham. Voltaggio will remain cooking at the hotel Tuesday through Saturday evenings, and there were no further reported changes expected to occur at The Dining Room where Voltaggio cooks until possibly the second quarter of the New Year when the Langham begins some renovations. Phew.
According to sources, Voltaggio not only is still heating up the kitchen at the Langham, but he also changes the menu daily to keep things even more exciting for guests.
Room rates at the Langham are currently starting at $229 for a deluxe king room.
