Spinsters of San Francisco’s 80th Anniversary
by Jillian Lobato
2009 will commemorate Spinsters of San Francisco’s 80th year as San Francisco’s oldest and finest women’s philanthropic group. The official celebration took place on December 5, 2009 from 7:00 P.M.-11:00 P.M. at the historic James Leary Flood Mansion located at 2222 Broadway in San Francisco.
Spinsters of San Francisco’s 80th Anniversary Celebration reflected the ladies’ 80 years of impeccable taste, style and service. Having opened with a glamorous reception featuring jazz band Quintana, honored guest speakers and an address by Spinsters of San Francisco’s president, Libby Leffler, the gourmet cocktails, artisan wine, and beer was served with compliments from the evening’s sponsors Grey Goose, Artesa Wine and Trumer Pilsner. After the reception, the main event kicked off with celebrated San Francisco disc jockey, DJ Zaq.
It seems fitting for Spinsters of San Francisco to hold their diamond anniversary at the historic James Leary Flood Mansion, as the building’s origins ironically fall in line with the great tradition and legacy that Spinsters of San Francisco have become known for. Built after the Great Quake of 1906, the James Leary Flood Mansion remains as one of the most stunning examples of residential architecture in the United States. Its rich history seems a fitting reflection of Spinsters of San Francisco’s commitment to their city and the legacy that they still hold today as San Francisco’s most extraordinary group of young women.
