Ineke Perfume San Francisco
by Alison Agudo

While many perfume companies choose to market their products by associating them with celebrities and fashion icons, one San Francisco perfumer is letting the true art of perfume making do all the talking.

Ineke Ruhland is a San Francisco based perfumer who markets her products based on the enticing scents they exude rather than the famous faces holding one of her bottles. Ruhland is one of the few classically-trained perfumers and her fragrance line, Ineke, has is sold at more than 150 stores worldwide. She is quickly becoming the top choice for connoisseurs because of the “rich beauty of the scents” she produces.

Educated in Versailles, France, Ruhland began her exclusive line in 2006 and has since developed six perfumes. The latest Ineke perfume, “Field Notes From Paris,” was created to “capture the ambience of lingering at a Parisian café, with a scent that combines the warmth of tobacco flower and leaf with vintage perfumery notes of coriander seed, patchouli, and tonka bean.”

Another popular perfume is Ruhland’s “Evening Edged in Gold” which exudes a warmth and opulence of night-scented flowers.

Ruhland’s other creatively titled perfumes include, “After My Own Heart,” “Balmy Days & Sundays,” “Chemical Bonding,” and Ineke’s fragrance for men, “Derring-Do”  which is a darkly romantic scent reminiscent of spring rain.

A wonderful last minute holiday gift idea, the collection can be purchased at ineke.com or at stores such as Gumps in San Francisco, Takashimaya in New York, Fred Segal in Los Angeles, and Liberty in London and Isetan in Tokyo.
