Haute Yacht: 1920’s Style Sycara IV
by Jillian Lobato
The world’s largest, with the highest technology, most beautiful, and also most expensive sailing yacht, the Maltese Falcon’s designer Ken Freivokh has decided to look to the past for his newest project. The new 1920’s-inspired throwback super-yacht, Sycara IV is a 151-ft. luxury yacht built by the Burger Boat Company in Wisconsin. Designed to cruise the Great Lakes in the most lavish way, it is partly inspired by John F. Kennedy’s yacht the “Honey Fitz.” Sycara IV’s aluminum-bodied craft resembles a classic wooden motor yacht with a schooner bow and fantail hull.
The interior includes Art Deco woodwork that is truly a masterpiece of handcrafted mahogany and madrone burl, with ebony, sycamore and padouk accents highlighted with stainless steel details in scores of inlays and moldings. The finishing touch? Its Lalique bathroom fixtures, of course. This baby is also equipped with every bit of state-of-the-art technology you’d expect in any modern super yacht.
