Francois Chocolate Bar: New York’s Chocolate Jewelry Shop
by Alison Agudo
If you’re looking for a great way to celebrate the holidays (or any day!) with a sweet treat, head over to the new Francois Chocolate Bar on the fourth floor of Mauboussin’s Madison Avenue flagship boutique for a delightful afternoon of chocolate brought to you by famed pastry chef and chocolatier Francois Payard and Parisian jeweler Mauboussin. The quaint space has been described by Payard as a “chocolate jewelry shop,” and for many, that’s enough said.
The Chocolate Bar has only 11, two-top tables and a bar with three seats, and it is entirely devoted to chocolate and features amazing signature pastries from Payard. The perfect stop-over during any high-end shopping spree, the Chocolate Bar also features a new line of verrines, macaroons, and the “Francois Quatre Quarts,” or pound cakes, hot chocolate, tea, coffee, and cappuccino. Signature gifts are also offered if you’re feeling generous and want to share a little piece of chocolate heaven with someone.
All chocolate items are very reasonably priced, for instance $2.00 for the macaroons and $6.50 for the verrines. The store is also currently running a holiday promotion through December 24 awarding customers who spend $100 or more receiving a complimentary Payard signature Voyager Bag and a 15 percent discount at Mauboussin.
The Chocolate Bar also offer gift baskets which range from $100 to $200, although you can also customize one starting at $15 if you’d prefer to make a more personal selections of goodies.
The Francois Chocolate Bar is located at 714 Madison Ave. and is open on Monday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
