Eloise Brought to Life At The Plaza
by Ebony Montenegro
Anyone who enjoyed the precocious character and her adventures will be pleased to know that the world of Eloise has come to life at the Plaza. It only took $450 million, three years and a lobby for the renovation to really bring back the world of this fictional character.
And oh boy the things to see and do! The 2,100 square foot Eloise shop opened at the Concourse Level of The Shops at The Plaza. This fantasy room is designed in true Eloise style, to capture her playfulness and spirit. Painted in “Eloise pink” and black, the shop is more of a playhouse for both young and old. Here one can enjoy a seat in the living room, or reenact their favorite vignettes from the “Eloise” books. A concierge is available to help plan any adventure, just like the character did in her books.
The shop comes complete with a Fashion Room, for a fun day of playing dress up, a Library Room where park views, Eloise movies, computer stations, and of course books are available to enjoy. No Eloise experience would be complete without the Tea Room, perfect for an afternoon tea party.
Finish off the day with some Eloise merchandise, the store offers a variety of Eloise memorabilia, Madame Alexander dolls and for the Holidays an exclusive Eloise ornament, and Christmas themed merchandise.
A full day of fun and shopping seems like a dream come true, but it doesn’t end there. Scheduled for Spring 2010 the shop will offer tea and birthday parties, beauty salon service and etiquette classes. Then of course is the Eloise fan club, which will highlight Eloise’s favorite things to do and see in New York. Plus the two overnight hotel offers: ‘Live Like Eloise’ and ‘Live Like Eloise Slumber Party’ packages. No overnight stay would be complete without a themed suite. Eloise’ will be designed by the one and only Betsey Johnson and set to debut in 2010.
Who knows what misadventures one will have. What is for sure is that the spirit of Eloise is fully awake and ready to inspire a whole new generation.
