D. Porthault Celebrates the Holidays with Kim Cattrall
by Alison Agudo
On December 17, D. Porthault celebrated the holidays with an event at its Park Avenue boutique with a very special guest, Sex and the City’s Kim Cattrall.
To ring in the holidays in true haute fashion, D. Porthault held a holiday event on December 17 with special guest Kin Cattrall, whose film Sex and the City 2 comes out in May 2010. In the company of Cattrall, guests were treated to D. Porthault’s luxurious signature Dahlia-scented soaps as they enjoyed a delightful combination of champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries to the sound of violin strings.
Cattrall is a close friend of D. Porthault’s owners Joan and Bernard Carl, and is responsible for rediscovering the “tigre design”—one of the brand’s most popular prints in D. Porthault’s archives. Three years ago when the Carl’s acquired D. Porthault, they sent their friend Cattrall some swatch books with old and new patterns which immediately “wowed” the actress who asked to have it for her home. She later signed up to star in Sex and the City: The Movie where she felt the elegant linen was perfect to represent the lifestyle of her vibrant character Samantha.
Another Sex and the City star, Sarah Jessica Parker, absolutely loves D. Porthault and chose to welcome twins Marion and Tabitha home on D. Porthault’s jete de fleurs sheets this past June.
The holiday event on December 17 was also the perfect opportunity to mark the celebration of owner Joan Carl’s recent prestigious award as she became a Chevalier de la Legion d’honneur, one of the highest levels of recognition granted by the French government.
