Adrenaline Pumping Winter Sports
by Alison Agudo

If heading to a ski resort and curling up next to a crispy warm fire with hot cocoa isn’t your idea of winter fun, we have some great adrenaline pumping suggestions that should satisfy your thrill seeking needs.

While some of us may be satisfied with a romantic retreat to a ski resort that ends up having more to do with room-service and hot chocolate by the fire than it does with skiing or snowboarding, some people welcome the winter season as a chance to get their adrenaline pumping with winter sports that were not intended for the faint of heart.

So if you’re looking to step things up a notch this winter, why not try a few of these winter thrill seeking adventures?

KiteWing is a large “kite” which is held above your head to catch the wind which will pull you along on your skis or snowboard at impressive speeds. For the braver KiteWingers, you can even guide the kite to take you over extreme jumps for that extra little thrill.

If that doesn’t do it for you, you can always try Heli-Skiing. This is a fantastic activity for people who love to glide through deep power in typically inaccessible locations. A helicopter will drop you off at these locations and then it’s up to you to navigate your way down the mountain on skis or snowboards.

If taking a helicopter up a mountain seems like ‘cheating’ somehow, then you can always opt for ski mountaineering where you climb up the mountain before skiing down.

With bicycling being all the rage in the eco-friendly world, why not bring that same green attitude to the slopes this winter? You can soar down a snowy mountain on a bike like the brave soul featured in the picture above.

Other viable options for descending a snow-covered mountain sans ski or snowboard is of course trying it with a toboggan, a luge, or a skeleton.

And finally, for the extremely brave souls out there, ice diving is a fun and adventurous way to get the most out of winter and explore what’s lurking below the ice.
