Zoë Due to Close Its Doors By the End of the Week
by Ebony Montenegro

After an 18 year long run Zoë located in Soho will soon be closing its doors at the end of the week. Owners Stephen and Thalia Loffredo decided that changes in the neighborhood were a reason for the closing.

“It’s no longer a bastion of the art world the way it was,” he said. “We can only tweak the concept so far.” And so they decided to close once their lease was up.

Since it’s opening in January of 1992 the contemporary American restaurant was notorious for their food and service, design and award-winning all-American wine list. It is now wonder that today with the continuing evolution of neighborhoods and culinary ventures, perhaps it is time for Zoë to retire.

In the past the Loffredos have ventured into other unsuccessful restaurant projects including, Cena on East 22nd Street, and Jovia on the Upper East Side. For now Mr. Loffredo will take on some consulting work, while his wife will enter her family’s real estate business in Brooklyn.
