Top 5 South Beach Food & Wine Festival Events
by Alison Agudo

Excited about the 2010 South Beach Wine and Food Festival? Yeah…so are we. Haute Living reported last week that the tickets for the highly anticipated annual event are finally on sale, and now we’re giving you a little heads up on some of the must-see events of the week. With nearly three-dozen events guests can attend, ranging from wine seminars to a tribute dinner for Chef Daniel Boulud, having a little glimpse into some of the festivals top-picks can’t hurt.

At number 5, you can attend Gary V’s Wine Lunch for a very educational morning. Wine Library TV personality, Gary Vaynerchuck, will be hosting a lunch event from Michael Gilligan of the W South Beach where he will dissect eight wines to find out which pairings are worth exploring. Tickets to the event cost $85, but it is expected that it will be well worth your money.

At number 4 you’ll find an Italian-themed lunch hosted by Scarpetta’s Conant, where guest will have the opportunity to cook with a James Beard Award-winning chef. After an afternoon of playing sous chef, guests will enjoy great wines along with a filling Italian lunch for $150.

As we approach the top spots of the must-see event list, number 3 goes to the Wine Spectator’s Best of the Best event. The esteemed wine magazine is hosting an event fit for serious wine fanatics where 50-plus wines and more than a dozen Champagne selections will be available for tasting. All featured wines and Champagnes have been rated as “superior” by Wine Spectator, and for a ticket price of $350, attendees will also enjoy a sampling of plates from chefs such as Michael White, Tim Cushman, David Burke, Masaharu Morimoto, and local chefs like Chad Ford of Devito’s South Beach and Marco Ferraro of Wish.

Coming in at spot 2 is the Michelle Bernstein and Hedy Goldsmith Dolce Brunch. The brunch will take place at the Blue door courtesy of Miami chef Bernstein herself and for $200 you will be privy to a seat at the table and glasses of the late harvest Napa wine, Dolce.

And finally, the number 1 must-see event at the 2010 South Beach Wine and Food Festival is, of course, the Daniel Boulud Tribute Dinner. For a pretty $520 per ticket, guests can attend the tribute dinner at Loews on Saturday night. Chefs scheduled to cook for the honorable French chef include Paul Bartolotta of Bartolotta Ristorante de Mare in Las Vegas, Michael Laiskonis of Le Bernardin in New York, Nobu Matsuhisa of Nobu, and Eric Ripert of Le Bernadin. Zach Bell of Café Boulud and two other chefs under Boulud will open the highly anticipated event while guests enjoy a complimentary glass of Cristal.
