Although most of the press hype going on after Michael Jackson’s death had finally seemed to subside, it seems that his fans are still hungry for more. Several items complete blew all expected auction bids out of the water, as a pre-sale auction conducted by Julien’s Auctions showed that certain items, such as Michael Jackson’s famous white glove from his famed “Bad” Tour skyrocketed at staggering prices.

A pre-sale estimate for the entire auction of $80,000 to $100,000 quickly became insignificant when, for example, the white glove opened at $10,000 but went immediately to $120,000 before settling at the final price of $350,000 (not including fees and commissions). After all fees and taxes, Hong Kong businessman Hoffman Ma spent about $420,000 for the piece of Americana that Darren Julien, the auction house’s CEO, describes as “the Holy Grail of Michael Jackson.” It was expected to sell for $50,000!!

The black jacket, with all the straps and zippers, that Michael wore during the same tour closed at $225,000 (before any fees or taxes), 20 times more than the expected value.

The auction that was held at the Hard Rock Café in Times Square, contained most of the 80 lots that  pertained to Michael Jackson that were provided by friends and family who had received them as gifts. Other items included a car driven by Michael Jackson, a guitar that was once owned by David Bowie, and plenty of Beatles memorabilia, as Jackson owned a huge hot of their music.
