The World’s Most Expensive Home: Aaron Spelling’s “Manor”
by Lianamar Davila Sanabria

Candy Spelling, late TV producer Aaron Spelling’s widow, has put their 56,500-square-foot French chateau-style mansion named “The Manor” on the market for a jaw-dropping $150 million. The Los Angeles home located in the Holmby Hills neighborhood is now the most expensive home for sale in the U.S. Haute Living recently featured her and her luxurious home in our November/December edition.

The Manor is the largest single-family home in Los Angeles County and in the U.S. It features two floors with 123 rooms sprawled over 4.6 acres. I would tell you how many bathrooms there are, but Mrs. Spelling herself has admitted to be unsure as to how many there are, anywhere from 16 to 26 have been previously reported.
It also includes a screening room, gym, bowling alley, four two-car garages, tennis court, barber shop and beauty salon, gift-wrapping room, wine cellar and tasting room, humidity-controlled silver storage room, China room, library pool, parking lot for 100 vehicles, and 16 carports, just to name a few. Sounds like a winner to me.
Mrs. Spelling even told the Associated Press that she had her dog Madison help her choose the real estate agent for the job. When meeting the candidates, she had security bring in her soft-coated Wheaten terrier and watched how the dog reacted. If Madison didn’t approve, neither did Candy.
