Three yachts, including the pictured “Bull” yacht, belonging to Bernie Madoff have just been sold and generated more than a million dollars for victims of his $65 billion Ponzi scheme.
A reported seventy bidders were registered with National Liquidators hoping to get their hands on one of Madoff’s yachts. The yacht pictured above called “Bull” was Madoff’s 55-foot yacht and it was sold for $700,000. His 38-foot “Sitting Bull” yacht was the next highest selling yacht out of the three at $320,000 while his smaller 24-foot “Little Bull” fetched just $21,000. Madoff’s CFO, Frank DiPascali’s 61-foot 2003 Viking sport fishing yacht was also sold the same day and pulled in an impressive $950,000 at the auction.
Madoff’s yacht sales were said to be so successful because Madoff took exceptional care of them. The president of National Liquidators, Bob Toney, said, “Mr. Madoff has taken better care of his yachts than anyone else I know. They were crew-maintained all the time.”
On another note, Madoff’s 1999 Mercedes Benz CLK 320 convertible sold for only $30,000 despite the fact that it was hardly use, racking in only 12,827 miles.
