When Kenneth Cole rolled into San Francisco to launch his new Silver Edition 925 Technology footwear collection, Haute Living was on the scene, securing an interview with the great master himself. HL’s vice president, Jan DiNuoscio, sat down with the designer at his Grant Avenue boutique to talk about the innovative design of his new line:

Haute Living: The 925 combines fashion and function. That was quite a risk.

Kenneth Cole: Yes, it was a risk and something outside of the box, but I noticed that women wear different shoes to walk to work and make their grand entrance into the office each morning. But then they pull out a second pair to actually get them through the workday. The Silver Edition was designed to get a woman from 9-2-5.

HL: Were you surprised by the response to the collection?

KC: Yes, in fact, we sold 3,000 pairs in advance when we first announced the launch.

HL: What makes the Silver Edition 925 so much different?

KC: The technology is part of a patented cushioned system. I truly believe that women have never looked so good while feeling so good in their heels.

HL: Is there anything else that our readers should know?

KC: I do more for women than any other man has…below the ankles.
