Kenbar Management, the group in charge of this development, is taking bold and healthy steps towards revitalizing the city as a non-smoking destination. Clubs, restaurants and bars have already banned smoking in New York, and it was certainly only a matter of time before residential projects caught up with the trend. Now is that time.

Just six years after the Smoke Free Air Act was incorporated in New York prohibiting smoking in restaurants and workplaces, many New Yorkers have become accustomed to the smokeless living in their public life, and now they are venturing into the day when smokeless private lives are equally common place. The new tenants at 1510 Lexington Avenue will make a contractual agreement not to allow smoking in their homes.

In addition to a smoke-free environment, residents will be privy to a 24/7 concierge-attended hotel-style lobby, building-wide water filtration, direct access to a large on-site garage with valet parking, and a package room with refrigerated storage for deliveries.

The building will also feature common areas which are, of course, smoke free and include a café and lounge with a fireplace overlooking the gardens, an extensive green roof terrace, and a children’s playroom. A fully-equipped onsite fitness room is also available to residents, along with a Members Only Roof Club with lounge and community seating and a multimedia center.

Rent prices are said to start at $2250 for the smaller apartment; a price some agree is completely worth it to live smoke-free in New York City.
