Can the delivery of a watch be considered a historic event? Apparently 400 guests from all over the world, including dignitaries representing the Monegasque government, thought so on November 7, 2009. The proud owner of what is now the most complicated wrist-watch in the world, the first Franck Muller Aeternitas Mega 4 Grande Sonnerie Westminster Carillon, is Michael J. Gould of Colorado, USA.
With 36 complications, 25 which are visible on the dial and on the back, the Aeternitas Mega 4 has now replaced the Patek Philippe Calibre 89 timepiece, which previously held the title. The watch had been in the making since 2004 and was hand delivered the first one was personally hand delivered by Franck Muller and Vartan Sirmakes to its new owner, who arrived in his private jet with friends and family at the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo. With a price point of $2.27 million, it is also the most expensive timepiece to be sold outside of an auction.

What a great way to celebrate such a grandiose purchase. I’m sure the passionate watch collector is as happy as a child on Christmas morning.
