Walking in Style on Rodeo
by Christina Bohnstengel
October is shaping up to be one haute month on Rodeo Drive. While the world’s most opulent street is no stranger to glitz and glam, in just one short week the 200-block of North Rodeo will sparkle brighter than the baubles of its renowned luxury jewelers.
On October 22, the City of Beverly Hills and the Rodeo Drive Committee will honor Princess Grace (Kelly) of Monaco (posthumous) and the renowned French jeweler Cartier for their contributions to the worlds of fashion and entertainment with the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style Award.
The elegant affair will include an award ceremony, followed by a cocktail reception, benefiting the Princess Grace Foundation-USA and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. As a part of the induction ceremony on Rodeo Drive, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco will accept the Award on behalf of His mother.
The Rodeo Drive Committee began bestowing this prestigious accolade in 2003, and this year, Cartier will be the first jeweler to enter the impressive circle of award-winners that includes Tom Ford; Salvatore Ferragamo; Gianni and Donatella Versace; James Galianos; Manolo Blahnik; Valentino Garavani; fashion photographers Herb Ritts and Mario Testino; and costume designers Edith Head, James Acheson, and Milena Canonero.
