From New York To Hong Kong – 9 New Hotel Openings
by Alison Agudo

Summer is officially over, but if you’re thinking of taking any extra vacation after a summer that went by too quickly, then Haute Living has a review of nine of the newest hotels opened from New York all the way to Berlin.

One of the latest luxury hotels is The Cartagena de Indias Boutique Hotel located in Cartagena, Columbia. With a grand opening scheduled for November 11th, this luxurious hotel is a mere 6 floors with 32 rooms and can be found on a quiet street between the city’s three busy plazas. While many of the hotel’s amenities will only be fully operational once the grand opening takes place, current guests can also enjoy some of the best restaurants, such as Oh La La, Don Juan, and La Perla, in Cartagena city by walking a quick 5 minutes from the hotel. The boutique hotel also features an onsite infinity rooftop pool and Jacuzzi that include 360 degree views of the city.

Another noteworthy hotel opening up in Columbia is The Bogota Marriott Hotel. Just a quick 10 minute ride from the El Dorado International Airport, the hotel boasts sound proofed rooms with a modern art concept. For all the tech-loving guests, the hotel also includes high-speed internet, work desks with plug panels and 37 inch LCD TV’s in each room. Room rates are currently listed at a starting price of $215 a night and for that you’ll also gain access to the hotel’s lap pool, Italian restaurant, and a Sushi and Tapas bar. If you need to do some shopping, there are also two shopping malls just outside the hotel doors.

Heading back to the U.S., New York City specifically, the brand new Crosby Street Hotel is creating quite a swanky buzz. After a previously delayed opening, it has been reported that the hotel has finally accommodated its first guests. The hotel is located in the infamous SoHo area of the Big Apple and reports are insisting that despite early mishaps with electrical malfunctions (which have now been corrected), the hotel appears to be shaping up into quite the place, with excellent service, including a visit by the GM during some guests check-in.

Remaining in New York, the new Ink48 Hotel is turning out to be making quite the impression on hotel goers. Despite a bit of construction going on in the lobby and exterior of the hotel, reports are that the service expectations were soundly met. The hotel is located right smack in the middle of the area most commonly known as Hell’s Kitchen and the word is that with a smooth check in, stays at this new hotel are pretty much guaranteed to be worth you money.

The Ames Hotel in Boston is not officially opened yet, but the word is that guests can book rooms for as early as November 19th. With rates that start at $299 for a standard room, the location of the hotel is surely something to look forward to. The hotel will be located inside the historic and stately Ames building, and while this may be delightful once construction is complete, the delay in opening may have something to do with certain requirements and or specifications that come along with building inside such a grand building.

Moving up to the snowy Colorado area of Snowmass, The Viceroy is set to accommodate its first guests around November 25th. While you may be disappointed that you have to wait until then, rest assured it will be worth it as the hotel’s opening rate is only $150 a night for a studio residence with mountain views and includes a king-sized bed, fireplace,42 inch flat screen TV, WiFi and small kitchen. In addition, in effect through December 23rd, the hotel is offering a special deal for guests who book one night with them by giving them any additional nights for 50% off.

The Ritz-Carlton Charlotte impressed many last week by opening their doors on schedule in Charlotte, North Carolina. Even better news for the hotel itself: every one of its 146 rooms was sold out for the entire first week. The hotel had introductory starting rates of $199 for a standard room and features two restaurants, BLT Steak and the Lobby Lounge which specializes in organic fare and signature cocktails.

If you’re heading across the Atlantic and stopping by Germany, be sure to check out the Aspria Hotel in Berlin. The opening date is November 6th in a very posh part of town called the Charlottenburg district which is just west of the Tiergarten. Aspria is actually a chain of health clubs all over Europe, but with this new hotel in Berlin (as well as one in Hannover), the chain appears to be expanding its business. The spa at the Berlin hotel location is set to be quite the place to be, and almost guaranteed to never be busy as the space is only shared by the hotel’s 42 rooms.

The Indigo Hotel located in Hong Kong will be completed in the historical Wan Chai district and is set to open in 2012. The architectural plan of the hotel includes a conspicuous dragon that wraps around the building and will function as an “eco-screen” to incorporate hot spots and solar gain for the hotel.
