Ferrari in the Sky
by Alison Agudo

Piero Ferrari, president of the Piaggio Aero and son the of late Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari, is merging the world of elegant yet powerful sports cars with the sublime sophistication and exclusiveness of private aircraft, resulting in a collaboration that takes unrivaled innovation to the sky.

The Avanti II is the only aircraft in its class to have a leading stand-up cabin featuring previously unseen height and width measurements for maximum comfort at any altitude. Passengers will also enjoy a significantly minimal noise level allowing them to sit back and silently enjoy the ride, or use the time to bring their office to the sky without the typical in-flight distractions. In fact, as opposed to the annoying buzz of similar private aircraft, travelers on the Avanti II are soothed by the gentle hum of a pair of highly tuned Formula 1 engines. To accommodate any traveler’s needs, passengers are also privy to an oversized baggage compartment spacious enough for any size suitcases, skis, or even golf bags.

The innovated aerodynamic design of the luxurious aircraft is not only economical, but truly something to admire. A single, continuous smooth curve, reminiscent of the ultra-sleek Ferrari cars, extends from the aircraft’s nose all the way to its tail to create a perfect profile that preserves laminar flow and minimizes drag while maximizing performance. The uninterrupted curve shaping outside of the aircraft not only lends to its overall exterior appeal, but, in addition to the revolutionary position of the two Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6 66 engines, it makes the Avanti II one of the most powerful aircrafts on the market. The small wing strategically located at the front of the aircraft further reduces weight and drag, which translates into superior performance combined with remarkable economical operation. With a top speed of around 450 KTAS, the Avanti II is about twice as swift as the fastest Ferrari, and it’s got a 1,800-mile range and a maximum cruising altitude of 41,00 feet.
