Pebble Beach authorities are searching for someone who is creating a lot of problems for two local residents. On Tuesday, Angelo Amadio, 31, and Dr. Ralph Kennaugh, 62, reported that their collection of artwork valued at $27 million was stolen. The missing collection includes paintings by Jackson Pollock, Rembrandt, Renoir, Henri Matisse, and Vincent van Gogh.

The two men reported that sometime between 1pm and 6:50pm on Friday, someone broke into their home and got away with some 30 odd pieces of their most valuable art, as well as $3,100 in cash and a personal computer. While these residents may never see that cash or computer again, they are doing everything they can to ensure the safe return of their substantial works of art.

“These are pieces that are special to us. A lot of them have not been in the open market,” Amadio said, adding that only “four to six” people could really be suspected of stealing the artwork as only an extremely limited number of people were even aware the collection existed. Implying that it must have been an inside job, Amadio declined further statement on the matter.

A “critical window” of time exists for getting these works of art back to their rightful owner, and Amadio and Kennaugh are currently offering a $1 million reward for the unscathed return of their collection.
