The Art of Imagination
by Jessica Davis

The world is most familiar with jewelry houses like Cartier, Bulgari, and Chopard for a number of good reasons; the brands’ prestige, histories, and reputations are built upon offering exquisite jewels to haute society the world over. However, therein lies the caveat: wear a standard bracelet or ring from any of these houses and you may just run into the same design adorning someone else’s finger or wrist.

Smaller jewelry design houses have the ability to cater to a unique breed of client, one who demands something equally beautiful but totally rare. Lisa Krikawa understood this when she launched her boutique jewelry firm, Krikawa Jewelry Designs. Armed with a degree in Fine Art with an emphasis in jewelry and metalsmithing, Lisa was driven to found the company as an outlet for her creative whims.

Along with her husband John, who serves as KJD’s chief technologist and master modeler, Lisa heads up a talented team of individuals who combine their imaginations to develop artistic jewelry for an international clientele who demand the very best.

While Krikawa Jewelry Design is known for their beautiful engagement rings and wedding bands, the line includes an assortment of mystical, classical, and modern pieces that capture the attention of industry professionals. The Curls and Pearl necklace, earring, and ring set was awarded first place in the Tahitian Pearl Trophy competition in 2007. The company has also been awarded with numerous accolades, including “America’s Best Jeweler” by National Jeweler.

The origins of the various lines come from all sources; for example, the Mokume Falling Water ring was inspired by the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home, Fallingwater. The raised center diamond references the cantilevered levels of the home, which is set above a waterfall, while the Earth Earrings symbolize the spinning globe with the equator line expressed by a ring of diamonds.

Besides designing award-winning jewelry, KJD makes it easy to collaborate with their prestigious team to create personalized wearable works of art. While some clients choose to plan vacations around their visit to the design gallery and workshop in Tucson, Arizona, customers from all over the globe can converse with the talented team online, via phone, or by video conferencing.
