Meet New York’s Eligible Billionaire Bachelors
by Alison Agudo

Haute Living recently reported that Russia’s richest man, billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, has agreed to a business proposal that will cost him an estimated $200 million to help fund the New Jersey Nets NBA stadium. Now Mr. Prokhorov is in the news for a somewhat more personal, yet equally intriguing, matter.

As he becomes more involved in the construction of the stadium, New York is already taking note of the newest billionaire in town, and media outlets are eager take closer looks at the bachelor potential of both Prokhorov and the city’s reigning billionaire, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg.

The money factor: For some, specifics do matter even when we’re talking billions–and therefore, in case you’re wondering, Mr. Bloomberg takes the cake. With an estimated worth of $16 billion, he is ranked an impressive 23 positions higher up on Forbes list of the world’s billionaires than Mr. Prokhorov, whose net worth is said to be $9.5 billion. The two men may be in a head-to-head billionaire bachelor battle, but when it’s broken down into the all important dollar sign, the competition is less than stiff.

Height: For many women, a man’s height matters; and for many men, distorting their height tends to abate women’s insecurities about looming large over their mate. While there is no official word on the exact height of these New York bachelors, Mr. Prokhorov is an extremely statuesque man who reportedly shoots way up into the mid-6-foot range, while Mr. Bloomberg would have to stand on a few piles of his hard earned cash to even come close, as estimates mark him in the mid-to-high 5-foot range.

Pre-billionaire careers: Knowing the roots of potential billionaire bachelors is also something New York women may be considering. Mr. Bloomberg once worked in a bank vault, counting stock and bond certificates at Salomon Brothers and Mr. Prokhorov worked in retail back in Russia before advancing on to more corporate, and significantly higher paying, positions.

Hobbies: Both men have their own private jets and their own charitable foundations. Mr. Bloomberg reportedly doesn’t have any real inclination for sports besides his frequent game of golf, and would choose a quiet dinner party over a night out on the town. Mr. Prokhorov, on the other hand, loves basketball, kickboxing and skiing and could certainly be considered more of a “party boy.”
