Drink and Be Driven
by Jessica Davis

It’s Friday. You just drove out of the showroom in your new Aston Martin Vantage, and you have dinner reservations at the hottest bistro in town—which happens to have quite the repertoire of fine wines. Later tonight, your friends have booked a table at a chic late-night lounge that is known for its martinis. Sounds like it’s going to be a good night. But how can you manage to show off your new V8 Roadster, enjoy your Tor Cabernet at dinner, and meet up for cocktails with friends without worrying about driving? That is where Your Car, Our Driver steps in and takes the wheel.

YCOD is Southern California’s premier chauffer service. Since its inception in 2007, YCOD has provided an inexpensive, socially responsible alternative to taxi cabs and limousine services. Drinking and driving doesn’t sound appealing, but neither does a dirty taxi or a high-priced, last-minute limo reservation. To steer clear of it all, make a reservation with YCOD. The chauffeur will arrive at the client’s residence at the prearranged time and then provide transportation in the luxury of the client’s own car. “We all know our alternatives to driving drunk: designated drivers, taxis, limos….Your Car, Our Driver is the next generation of transportation and gives individuals the flexibility of enjoying their time out on the town, without worrying about getting home safely,” commented Josef Wojtkow, founder and CEO of YCOD.

According to the California Department of Motor Vehicles, in 2007 there were about 1,500 alcohol related fatalities. In 2008, almost 30 percent of car accident deaths in California involved a drunk driver. YCOD is committed to lowering those statistics, and so is its clientele. But beyond handing over the keys to YCOD for a designated driver, customers also call upon the service for trips to the doctor, rides to and from the airport, and transporting elderly relatives who need to run errands. (Even teenagers who are too young to drive would appreciate being dropped off at the movies with friends by a chauffer instead of risk being seen with their actual parents.)

In addition to being socially responsible by preventing drunk driving and teenage angst, YCOD does philanthropic work with charitable organizations. Having contributed to Canyon Acres and Susan G. Komen for the Cure earlier this year, YCOD donated 10 percent of all proceeds earned to Working Wardrobes during its inaugural Summer Sizzle event from July 19 to 25. Working Wardrobes is a nonprofit organization that helps men and women in crisis re-enter the workforce with assistance in wardrobe and career development. YCOD has also partnered with clients Priscilla “Bo” and Dick Marconi of The Marconi Automobile Museum & Foundation for Kids. The Marconis encourage social responsibility amongst attendees of the frequent charity events held at the museum. They also recognize that the major philanthropists should be able to enjoy themselves to the fullest and still get home safely. So on September 27, YCOD will provide transportation to the Meet the Stars Dessert Reception benefiting Covenant House California, a trend that will continue during future events.

Wojtkow says, “YCOD looks forward to continuing work with nonprofits and giving back to the community. We feel that it is very important to extend the service and assist different charities and nonprofits in the Southern California region.” On YourCarOurDriver.com, there is also information about JourneySafe, an outreach program that educates teens and parents about the risks associated with young drivers.

Wojtkow also understands and appreciates the security and trust of his clients, and therefore each chauffeur undergoes a third-party drug test, criminal background investigation, and personal profile check. It is mandatory that each driver also have a clear driving record with no at-fault accidents, no more than one moving violation in three years, and pass YCOD’s road test.
When it’s all laid out on the table, at a rate of $30 an hour, Your Car, Our Driver offers quite a deal—an affordable and socially responsible alternative to drinking and driving—so, drink and be driven.
