A New Way to Roll: The Electric Phantom
by Alison Agudo
If you own a Rolls-Royce Phantom, you will most likely concur that there is little that compares to the sheer opulence and unmatched sense of presence that the car exudes. As a truly modern interpretation of a classic Rolls-Royce, one of the most luxurious cars on the market is reportedly about to get an environmentally-friendly makeover. The legendary lavish car maker, Rolls-Royce, is allegedly considering an electric version of the Phantom. At a recent press conference, a spokesman for the brand mentioned that a battery-powered Phantom is currently under construction. It was noted that with a direct-injection V12 petrol engine making for an effortless acceleration under the hood, the surplus in weight from a lithium-ion battery pack would hardly impede the performance of a car that weighs more than 6,000 pounds.
It will be only a matter of time before the world will see what the gently authoritative luxury car will be able to withstand should the electric Phantom be introduced to the market. But one thing is certain: the impressively peerless Phantom will remain something to be admired for many battery packs to come, and that is unmistakably Rolls-Royces’ initiative.
