Since it was founded in 1860, innovation, precision, and technology have been the defining attributes of Officine Panerai. With all of their products designed and manufactured in-house, the company has recently taken its standard of quality and luxury to yet another level with the Luminor 1950 Tourbillon GMT 47mm Titanium. But remarkably outstanding and traditional characteristics are not what account for the majority of praise that the timepiece receives. Instead, it is the newly developed calibre Panerai P.2005 that garners the attention, as it is the ultimate depiction of mechanical complexity and sophistication.
What makes the calibre P.2005 exceptionally admirable is the tourbillon situated in its crown. As the most distinguishable detail of the design, the tourbillon was originally crafted to extinguish errors, such as those caused by slight imperfections in the workmanship or changes in rate sparked by shifts in gravity. Flawlessness, stability, and consistency are the final results. However, the P.2005 is also distinguished by several other details and, surprisingly, it is a mere 9.1mm thick. It is comprised of 239 parts and has manual winding and three spring barrels, which allow the watch to acquire enough energy to operate for a minimum of six days.
Additionally, the back of the P.2005 is adorned with a large sapphire crystal window so that the entire movement is completely visible. The unparalleled creation reflects the highest level of standards and accuracy, thus branding itself as a trophy of time.
Panerai is available through Traditional Jewelers.
