Island Global Yachting stakes even more control in the Caribbean.

Island Global Yachting is one of most well known names in the yachting industry. Under the direction of chairman and founder Andrew Farkas, IGY has solidified its reputation for luxury and excellence in the development and management of marina properties and yachting and lifestyle destinations. They currently manage marinas in destinations all over the world including the Arabian Gulf, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean.

It was recently announced that IGY would be in charge of operating the newly opened Turks and Caicos Yacht Club. This is an exciting development in the progress and future success of the highly anticipated TCYC, which is located at the new Nikki Beach Resort & Spa in Turks and Caicos, British West Indies. The 110-slip megayacht marina can accommodate vessels as large as 200 feet. The resort features a five-star hotel, spa, nightclub, and a signature beach club, so IGY is in good company, indeed. All aspects of Nikki Beach are open to guests of the marina. In addition to being a glamorous destination, TCYC aims to be one of the world’s first eco-sound marinas, and it is outfitted with a number of special features designed to preserve the natural beauty of its setting. Oil changes and extractions are monitored and disposed of in such a way that ensures the waters surrounding the marina remain crystal clear. Other state-of-the-art amenities include efficient fuel delivery systems, 24/7 manned security systems, an advanced fire control system, and an on-site customs and immigration services office.

Another exciting undertaking for IGY is the redevelopment of the Rodney Bay Marina on St. Lucia in the West Indies. The original development opened in 1986 and became the center of the island’s tourism in subsequent years, with luxury hotels and condos complementing the location of the marina. This infrastructure will undoubtedly become even more important in coming years. Upon its completion later this year, the new and improved marina will feature 252 slips, with 30 new berths dedicated to megayachts. The improvements have added to its appeal as a yachting destination, complete with retail and restaurant facilities. In addition to the physical improvements that Rodney Bay will debut, the renovation will reposition the island of St. Lucia as a major haven for megayachts, thereby enhancing high-end tourism throughout the island. The location is a strategic coup that will allow megayachts unprecedented access to the islands of the Southern Caribbean.
