The luxurious homes of the Residences at Two Liberty Place scrape Philadelphia’s sky.

During Teddy Roosevelt’s presidency, the world’s tallest building was Philadelphia’s ornate City Hall, capped by a statue of William Penn gazing out at the “green country town” of his founding vision. For a century, developers’ ambitions were frustrated by an informal agreement limiting tall buildings to a height below 548 feet, the top of Mr. Penn’s hat. Then, One and Two Liberty Place broke the long-maintained restriction.

Soaring to a height of 868 feet, Two Liberty Place now features Philadelphia’s loftiest homes, the first to rise above the crown of Mr. Penn’s hat. The city’s next highest residences top off seven stories below where the stratospheric dwellings in Two Liberty Place commence. Of the 90 spacious residences in the opulent tower, the lowest is on the 40th floor and the celestial penthouse is on the 57th. Residents began moving into these coveted homes—ranging from $1.1 million to $15 million—last spring and full occupancy is expected in 2009.

Two Liberty Place was originally a Class AA office tower and part of the Liberty Place mixed-use complex, which includes a Westin Hotel and retail concourse with more than 60 shops and restaurants. Conversion of the upper floors to Philadelphia’s most elegant condominiums by the Florida-based Falcone Group realized a new live-work-play paradigm. But sublime views from the city’s third tallest building (after Comcast Center and sister One Liberty Place) are just one aspect of the sky high and ultra-luxe life of the Residences at Two Liberty Place.

Lavish appointments and the building’s resort-level amenities make each owner feel like a perpetual guest in a boutique hotel and the attention of a warm and gracious staff makes everyone feel at home. Twenty-four hour white glove concierge service is coupled with a virtual touch screen/in home concierge service to anticipate and respond to any request. Every home is distinguished by Italian-made Snaidero cabinetry with SubZero and Miele appliances including a built-in Nespresso machine. The residences stretch from 1,150 square feet to 12,000 square feet of expansive floor space. Wall-to-wall-windows offer unobstructed, masterpiece views that span more than 45 miles into three different states.

The Owner’s Club on the 37th floor is the central hub of this community in the clouds where a business center and sophisticated theater/game room are located in addition to a fully equipped fitness center including a specialized yoga and Pilates studio. Personal trainers will jump to attend to any fitness needs. Separate men’s and women’s spa facilities, featuring both sauna and steam rooms, provide a full range of relaxing treatments. Pets are pampered, too, as they can luxuriate in the pet salon while their owners take a dip in the endless pool.

Other opulent amenities abound. Grocery delivery and storage is available. On-demand Mercedes-Benz car service is at one’s disposal. A five-star signature restaurant, with preferred seating for owners and offering exclusive room service, will also be situated on the 37th floor.

While the Residences at Two Liberty Place promises uncompromised privacy, two owners have confirmed their stake in the development. Bon Jovi lead guitarist Richie Sambora and potential Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate Tom Knox count themselves among the elite sky dwellers at home at the top of the world.
