Hollywood glamour and star-powered fundraising came together for the 7th annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball. Hollywood’s elite, including Brett Ratner, Charlie Sheen, Russell Simmons, Eva Mendes, and Demi Moore, united for an elegant fête in support of helping the homeless. More than $1 million was raised in an effort to help over 2,300 men and women transition from poverty to gainful employment. The event was held on Saturday, May 31 at a private Brentwood residence.
During the evening, which was hosted by Saturday Night Live alumni and funnyman Chris Kattan, guests were treated to live performances by Keyshia Cole and newcomer Spensha Baker. The ball recognized Hollywood’s most outstanding executives and artists in the film, television, and music industries while maintaining a focus on assisting the homeless. Honorees for the evening included Ron Fair, chairman of Geffen Records; Mark Gordon, award-winning producer; and Donna Langley, vice president of production for Universal Pictures. Chrysalis Client of the Year went to High Coles.
The evening’s events included the exclusive unveiling of Swiss watch manufacturer Ernest Benz’s limited-edition collection, Time for Change, in support of Chrysalis and their charity work. Selected watches designed by Mary J. Blige, Eric Dane, and Russell Simmons will be auctioned off on eBay with all proceeds benefiting Chrysalis. Mercedes-Benz was a sponsor along with Saks Fifth Avenue and glass and lighting designer Unici, with Grey Goose Vodka providing tasty cocktails throughout the evening.
