While typically Champagne is compared to all things that sparkle, more than six feet of sleek steel lines define the latest innovation from the famed Champagne house Veuve Clicquot. Veuve Clicquot has teamed up with the innovators at Porsche Design to create Vertical Limit, an avant-garde storage container with hand-soldered doors that reveal individually lighted and labeled shelves. Eye-catching and lustrous, its chic appearance is just the beginning; the real treat is what lies within this alluring and exclusive household item.

Vertical Limit comes complete with 12 magnums of Veuve Clicquot vintages selected by four generations of master cellars. Veuve Clicquot’s vintages are gathered from the best of the house’s 515 hectares of grand cru vineyards and impeccably defined by the structured strength of Pinot Noir grapes combined with the subtle finesse of Chardonnay grapes.  Thus, the temperature within the Vertical Limit is kept at a precise 12 degrees, reflecting the exact climate in the Veuve Clicquot cellars in Reims, France, and proving ideal for tasting. What marks the Vertical Limit as an incredible fixture of ingenuity is in the equal amount of precision between the creation of the vintages and the structural design in which they reside. Just as each vintage of Veuve Clicquot is a carefully preserved memento from the past, each of the 15 limited-edition cabinets produced was carefully handcrafted, entailing three weeks worth of design work by the atelier at Porsche Design Studio.

“The rich, satiny palette of vintage Champagnes is an homage to cherished harvests of the past and artful blending of our Chef de Caves,” says Cecile Bonnefond, president of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin. “Our Vertical Limit is a striking collaboration and celebration through which we hope more people will savor excellent wine by embracing vintages.”

The Vertical Limit, which retails for $70,000, is available for purchase exclusively at Crush Wines in New York and Wally’s in Los Angeles.
