The city known for building an entire planet (World Islands) has put its name on the map once again. Dubai World’s Africa subsidiary announced its plan today to develop a $70 million, 5-star beachfront resort on the Comoros Islands. Known for its decadence and visual tour de force, Dubai World is chaired by Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, who is hoping that this development will be the beginning of an ongoing partnership with the Comoros government. Dubai World is a holdings company that manages and supervises a diversified portfolio of businesses and projects in Dubai, and contributes to the rapid economic growth across the globe through a variety of sectors, including property development and hospitality, maritime, financial services, multi commodities, and retail.

The resort on Comoros will be situated near the country’s capital Moroni, and managed by Kempinski Hotels, which is Europe’s oldest and most established luxury hotel collection. Since 1897, Kempinski Hotels has hosted international celebrities, witnessed meetings between the world’s leaders, and has been a part of creating history around the globe. The landmark Comoros resort is scheduled for completion in 2010.
