The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Mammoth, will bring upscale living to new elevations.

The word “upscale” takes on an even loftier meaning with The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Mammoth. The new luxury development at Mammoth Mountain is a year-round destination in one of the most spectacular settings in California’s Eastern Sierra.

At 7,900 feet above sea level, the location is certainly “up,” and everything about Mammoth, as its name suggests, is on a grand scale: the mountains, the myriad sparkling lakes and streams, the forests, the clean air, and the starry skies. Everything about The Residences spells luxury.

Scheduled for completion in the 2010/2011 ski season, The Residences are located on a prime 6.9-acre site on the eastern slopes of Mammoth Mountain in the community of Mammoth Lakes. Its owners will have panoramic views in all directions, creating the feel of a wilderness getaway, only with the lavish comforts of the legendary Ritz-Carlton and the additional conveniences offered by the nearby village.

The Residences will leave no luxury behind. The property offers its owners a selection of signature amenities and services, including housekeeping, catering, room service, concierge services, ski valet services, and more. The Residences also include an all-season swimming pool, spa and state-of-the-art fitness center, gourmet and express restaurants, and cozy fire pits.

Starting at $1.7 million, The Residences will offer floor plans ranging from 1,200 to 4,000-plus square feet in one- to four-bedroom and one- to five-bathroom options. As sweet as life will be right at home at The Residences, it’s the larger setting that adds unlimited value to ownership.

While Mammoth is truly an all-season experience, the 400 inches of average annual snowfall, 3,100-foot vertical rise, and its facilities, sophistication, hospitality, and accessibility have brought it international fame as a destination for alpine and Nordic winter sports. Mammoth Mountain has 3,500 skiable acres, 150 named trails, and 29 lifts. Skiing, snowboarding, Nordic cross-country, and sledding unparalleled in challenge, excitement, and beauty have long made Mammoth a winter-sports paradise.

The rest of the year offers an even greater number and variety of outdoor recreational opportunities: mountaineering and rock climbing, miles and miles of trails for hiking and mountain bikes, lakes and rivers for kayaking and canoeing, and some of the best trout fishing in North America.

While the peak seasons swell the population to some 35,000 a year, the year-round population is approximately 7,500, giving Mammoth Lakes and the surrounding area a small-town serenity and charm.

With more than 60 restaurants and lounges, Mammoth Lakes offers a wide variety of cuisine, including traditional and nouvelle American, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, German, Italian, Thai, and French.

Most of Mammoth’s retail shops and stores offer a variety of merchandise from the staples to gourmet wines, designer clothes, sporting equipment, local art, jewelry, and home furnishings.

Mammoth Lakes is located in the Inyo National Forest, Mammoth Ranger District, and is surrounded by acres of forest and bordered by the Ansel Adams and John Muir Wilderness Areas. Yosemite National Park’s eastern entrance is located 32 miles north. Mammoth is approximately 325 miles north of Los Angeles and a comparable distance from San Francisco.
