Pei has come to fruition in the $30,000/night penthouse suite at the quintessential Four Seasons New York Hotel. Best described as an extensive exploration of the possibilities of residential living at the highest level, The Ty Warner Penthouse is pure opulence. A $50 million investment, the penthouse takes up an entire floor for maximum openness and unfettered panoramic views highlighted by floating balconies and floor-to-ceiling bay windows. The nine-room penthouse, accessed by private elevator, includes a library, spa, Zen garden, powder room, and breakfast room. Every room has a distinctive design aesthetic with semi-precious stoned surfaces, walls of hand-applied straw marquetry, and collectible furniture. Of course, the $30,000/night tab includes unlimited use of a Rolls Royce or Maybach, personal trainer, full spa treatments, and a 24/7 personal butler.

Peninsula Suite at the Peninsula

The 3,000-square-foot Peninsula Suite possesses the ambience of a pre-war city residence with spectacular views down Fifth Avenue. The suite showcases decorative fireplaces, original art set on silk-covered walls, a grand piano in the living room, and a library whose cabinets conceal a state-of-the-art audio/video system, including a 52″ television. The king-size bed in the large master bedroom is covered with none other than Italian Fili d’Oro linens and a silk down duvet. One of the city’s most extravagant offerings, the $1,000 pizza sets the record as the most expensive pizza in the world.

Serendipity’s Golden Opulence

The only serendipitous place where you can buy a Tiffany lamp or teddy bear and order a hot dog or caviar for dinner. This witty and entertaining locale, (also known as the inspiration of the movie named after it) is the only place in the city where you’ll find a $1,000 dessert. The Golden Opulence Sundae is a creation of the best the world of sweets has to offer, with three scoops of the richest Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream infused with Madagascar vanilla beans, covered with 23-carat edible gold leaf, drizzled with the world’s most expensive chocolate, Amedei Porceleana, and chunks of rare Chuao chocolate. Located in the landmarked Algonquin Hotel, the Blue Bar’s “Martini on the Rock” a $10,000 concoction, requires a 72-hour advance reservation. The time needed to hold a meeting with the hotel’s preferred jeweler to select the perfect diamond that will garnish your drink. Once your stone is appraised and purchased, your customized Martini (as the $10,000 give you the liberty to pick you choice of gin) or traditional mix of Belvedere Vodka and Martini & Rossi vermouth will be poured onto the acquired rock. In reality the Martini’s final price depends on size and cut of the diamond purchased.

The London Bar’s 550 Bentley Sidecar Cocktail

Gordon Ramsay’s stylish London Bar serves one of the most luxe cocktails in the city. The Bentley Sidecar, a $550 cocktail, is made of 20oz. Hennessy Ellipse ($5,000 per bottle), 1oz. Grand Marnier 150 year ($200 per bottle), and a splash of lemon juice. Furthermore the Hennessy is poured from a Baccarat crystal decanter designed by Tomas Bastide. You don’t get to keep the decanter but you can enjoy the premium cognacs poured from it.
