Barchetta, the newest vessel to the fleet of Christensen Shipyards Semi Custom Production series made its debut June 9. This 157-foot beauty has already been sold, purchased by an American couple. The American couple’s previous yacht, Casique, was also a Christensen — a pre-owned 120-footer on which they traveled extensively all over the world. When they decided that yachting was in their blood, they decided this time around “to build a yacht,” and there was no doubt in their minds that it would be a Christensen. They were completely impressed and thrilled with this builder and knew Christensen would be more than willing to build Barchetta to meet their desires. Designing a yacht to meet their specifications was a dream come true, and, with Christensen’s superior craftsmanship, how could they go wrong? They didn’t.
Christensen absolutely rose to the occasion. Some of the requirements for Barchetta were to include a stunning Art Deco interior and detailed extravagant slab-only stonework designed by Jaqueline Mann. Barchetta’s spacious hull encases elegant owner and guest accommodations in six separate staterooms. A crew’s quarters fits up to 10, and an elevator services all levels of the yacht. For a comfortable ride, the vessel also features the company’s first bulbous bow, designed and tank-tested at the Webb Institute for long-range fuel efficiency and minimized bow wake, eliminating fore and aft pitch in some not-so-perfect weather conditions. Barchetta was also designed for charter, and its numerous amenities include watersport toys such as a three-person submarine, Nitrox for deep diving and several Sea Doos and tenders.
