Form meets function with Dom Pérignon-inspired sculpture by Marc Newson

Throughout the world, Marc Newson is known for his iconic designs. His personal style always seems to evoke the soft shape of the bubble; his works marry bright colors with smooth, innovative forms, creating memorable pieces of art. His inventive approach to his craft has made him one of the most celebrated and influential designers of his generation, and has landed him the prestigious accolade of being named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2005.

Newson’s works are in the permanent collections of the major museums in the world, including MoMA New York, The Design Museum London and more. This Aussie has won international acclaim for his aesthetic vision, including designs for Nike, Qantas, and Ford, creating works that are both imaginative and versatile.

His latest work, Dom Pérignon by Marc Newson, is no exception. An ode to the finest bubbly, Dom Pérignon, this piece is an interpretation of the iconic Dom Pérignon bottle, created in the signature neon-green color for which Marc Newson is best known for. A must-have piece for collectors of Dom Pérignon and Newson alike, the one of a kind bucket was inspired by Newson’s passion for the famed champagne and the spectacular event of enjoying Dom Pérignon in a large bottle format.

“My vision of the brand Dom Pérignon is very much about luxury,” says Newson. “It’s about the finest champagne that you can drink. It’s about pleasure. It’s about enjoying yourself. It’s about having fun, but first and foremost for me, it’s about having a sense of style, a sense of class, and really savoring one of the greatest pleasures in life.”

Dom Pérignon by Marc Newson combines the two most important aspects: form and function. The case’s dual-purpose design holds a magnum of Dom Pérignon and ice, keeping the bottle insulated and chilled without a conventional ice bucket. The case design retains the sensual curve of the bottle shape with a silver version of the Dom Pérignon label and Newson’s signature adorning the back.

A true object of art, Dom Pérignon by Marc Newson is extremely limited, with only 1,000 limited-edition sets being sold worldwide, retailing for $1000 at exclusive stores across the country, such as Moss in New York City and Luminaire in Miami. A magnum bottle of Dom Pérignon champagne retails for approximately $360.
